I'm a self taught artist, and a huge lover of animals big and small. Having grown up with all kinds of pets, I used to draw them as they slept and fell in love with this realistic style of artwork which showcases their natural beauty. Classic head portraiture is my absolute favourite, keeping the main focus on the animal's eyes and expression, capturing their character to the best of my ability. I began experimenting with colour and discovered the magic of pastels which give a wonderfully soft look to the pet's fur that you can almost feel, but I am always pushing the envelope of realism and coloured pencil allows me to include more detail than ever in my portraits to make the animal feel alive. I am happy to offer both mediums to suit your preference, and a comparison of each can be found below.
